Our First Time in RSU

Can't really put to words the experience we had over there.

Still could remember flying over to Thailand alone on monday morning [the rest of the team flew on Sunday morning] and trying like thousand of times to call a Thai mobile phone number from a payphone without success because must put a 080 in front of the number instead. And then how I reached RSU and met Harry and Nut, my 2 thai friends from TCC last September.

Then hearing how tough the training was on Sunday and Monday morning and how excited i was to start training. I could summarize the whole training as a "back to basics" training, and although we didn't practise much of the cheerobics routine [yes "WHAT NOW STILL HAVENT LEARN YET???!?], we did a lot of basics practice which I strongly believe will help us learn much faster the routine when Oat and May come again in early Feb.

Though some might disagree, or even complain that why we are doing so many things unrelated to the routine, but i have to bring up the situation when i was in year 1. I remembered practising for the routine which they gave us in December and when they came back again, our success rate wasn't even close to 20% but we insisted that we could do it. So they gave us a few hours to practise, and when they came back, still we couldn't do the stunts. I remembered how Oat was very angry and said that we didn't believe in him. Remembering this and not forgetting the lesson learnt, this time as a captain i will make sure that we will follow exactly what he left for us to practise until he comes in a month's time.

So much to practise, but so little time. Daily PT, basic pyramids, partner stunts, not to mention we have to cater time to practise for IHG closing performance too. Ah what the heck haha. Took a look at the title of this post and realized it's supposed to be about RSU hahaha. guess i digressed tooo much.

Anyway, RSU was way fun man. Everyone's so friendly and willing to help, and although most of them are students like us who have daily classes, they still come down to help whenever they are free. I think everyone benefitted from them a lot a lot in one way or another, be it accomplishing scorpions, partner stunts, or just improving your basics. But overall, I think everyone is more motivated to achieve, rather than just be yet another member of KR Steppers only. Secretly, I think everyone has their own goals in the team, and hopefully this will motivate them to do all the daily self PT and stretching in order to become stronger and achieve the difficult walls.

Personally, I've improved my thai aha and I've grown to believe that it's going to be impossible to achieve anything if we don't train everyday. Perhaps one of these days i will talk to master or lewis and try to convince them that if we want to have a breakthrough one fine day, we have to cut down on other activities and focus just on this. Hall invests a lot in us, but no matter how hard we try, at the very minimum we have studies and cheer to balance. coupled with the insane points system to stay and hence the pressure to take up so many other activities, it's very difficult to build up a strong cheer team. i can imagine all the backlashes and consequences of having this thought / proposal, but who cares, it's a fact, which i have no choice but to recognize after doing 2 years of cheerleading. OK ANW, i have to thank once again the RSU people for the following things which they did for us:

(1) Always being there for us during trainings
(2) Going out of their way to satisfy our needs like fetching shiqi and ivan individually from the airport
(3) Being friendly and ever encouraging [im the discouraging one most of the time aha]
(4) Following us wherever we wanna go and making sure we're back safely everytime
(5) Organizing the BBQ
(6) Finding the contacts to print our team shirt and making uniforms
(7) Waking up at like 4:00am with me ivan and shiqi just to send us off [saang, big, bombam, pui, koy]

...and many many more!!! I can't list out the names of the RSU people because I can't remember a few names so will be paisei one, but special mention to chaang and saang who were always almost always with us everyday from the time we wake up till we end training.

For me, it's more than just learning stunts, i understood more about cheerleading and how to grow a team and how to improve the team better, and this one month will put us to the test, whether we will continue to be stagnant or we will all improve together as a team. of course i hope for the latter, but if really time doesnt permit or whatever reason, i believe we will still be able to give a good show during cheerobics.

And thanks to my cool Angel, Joy who gave me lots of nice stuffs including a limited edition shirt AHA! And my mortal was Beeeerrrrr, who's like the coolest top flyer ever. Lastly, SORRY TO HEIDI I FORGOT TO BUY YOUR POCKYS EVEN THOUGH U REMINDED ME! dunno what's wrong with my brain aha.

SUSU!

Ride for Hope 2009!

HORA HORA HORA!!!

Ride For Hope 2009 is a cycling expedition organized by the NUS Med faculty. 40 medical cyclists will accompany wheel-chair athlete Dr William Tan on an 80km cycling route around Singapore, making pit stops at 6 public hospitals, and they hope to raise $100,000 in donations, which will benefit patients all over Singapore.

It will be held this coming Saturday, 29th August.

With such a meaningful event taking place, KR Steppers has decided to do our part by doing a performance at one of the pit stops, Alexandra Hospital to cheer the cyclists on, who will be at their last 10km of the expedition. We will be performing for the supporters as well as the cyclists, to raise their spirits up, for I am sure they will be weary and tired after 70km of cycling.

As such, KR Steppers invites all of you to be down at Alexandra Hospital at 4pm to give your support to us, as well as the cyclists who'll be making a stop at Alexandra Hospital. Here's the direction to go, if you're heading down from hall: Take Bus 51 from Pasir Panjang Road towards Vivo City direction.

Please do come down with your friends to give us and them your support, and if you want to do more for this charity event, please visit their website http://rideforhope09.blogspot.com for more details. Hope to see you there!

Our 2nd and FINAL workshop

Hey people,

We've been postponing our 2nd workshop again and again.

Originally it was scheduled to be on 10th July, Friday, afternoon but due to poor response coz most of you dudes are like working your ass off and also there's union camp around it's a bit inconvenient, we've decided to postpone it to 17th July, Friday evening, 5:30pm at KR MPSH!

This is it, no more postponement, no more delays, even if there are no seniors and only you are the ONLY participant, I will GO ONE ON ONE WITH YOU! And give my all out.

OK, jokes aside, do drop me a sms @ 91916005 or email to krsteppers@gmail.com
Let us know early so we can plan for it yeah! But even if you're reading this post on Friday itself and decide to come, GIVE ME A CALL YEAH!

So for guys, just be in a comfortable sports attire, dont wear anything fancy,
and for girls, please bring tights and boxer shorts and a comfortable pair of shoes.
Shoes are compulsory please!

Those interested I will send an email to further update you and give you directions to KR etc.

Photobucket
the freshies first few attempts at trying out "trust fall", and the alert bases always anticipating the flyer falling into their arms!
Photobucket
then we tried shoulder stand! (: the seniors demonstrated, and the freshies learnt! (:
Photobucket

Photobucket
we learnt a simple dance, so they had a taste of what cheer dance is like! and definitely, arm motions and jumps! nobody expects something that looks so simple to be so tiring!
sharpness and precision is the MOST MOST important in arm motions and dance.
Photobucket
lastly, this is for leonard! i know you miss STEPPERS a lot. come back and train with us (:
oh and GO WEEPS!!!!!! (he thought he was on extension when it was only elevator) haha.
