ok currently i am freezing my ass off at some random internet hot spot in the town called Riomaggiore in cinque terre, italy. and so i just finished watching the match between spain and chile. last ten minutes was just totally boring and shit, when spain totally just passed the ball around to maintain their 2-1 lead. pathetic shits.
OK so that's not the main point. I'm here to write about my journey as KR Steppers for the past academic year.
Well, it was a breeze.
NOTTTTTTTTT.
haha ok then, let's start from where we just took over as the comm. still remembered we had the siloso beach after elections partay and we were like drinking and doing stunts, and we took our first comm photo and drank our first comm toast together. Me, mel, edward billy.
then came to work. workshops, blueblood, FWOC, auditions and what not. oh, hmm, auditions. still remembered how all the flyers cheated our feelings when they all put the weight down INCORRECTLY haha, giving us all false hopes.hahah.
then, our greatest problem (like every other year), was recruitment. haha remembered we had like lots of ideas, but it all came down to like posters, sign up sheets and hard core persuasion. well, the story that i always have to tell is how jing jie got into the team. well KR always has this thing called inter block games and freshmen always have to be the junior captains. so jing jie was the basketball junior captain in my block, beloved D block. so he was mass smsing one day asking for ppl to go for trainings, and i happened to reply that i couldnt make it (i think like only 2, 3 ppl replied him). so he had my number alr, and when his friend taiyu wanted to join steppers, he smsed me again and ask me whether taiyu can still come down for trainings, even though auditions are over. i said "why not? oh hey...why not u come down too?" and he stupidly said OK ^_^
HAHA that's how he was conned, and that's one of the many ways we managed to get a team up.
Training was pretty good for the first semester, and i thought me and my comm were holding up pretty well. just that, actually, we repeated the problems of the previous years over and over again, like how we are too slow in training progress, and we always start very late like end august, and how by september when thai camp starts, we're never ever ready. well, nothing changed, and so sigh after all we weren't tt successful after all.
However, we managed to fly the whole team over to thailand for some nice "recreational" training with the RSU people. other than being lots of fun, memories are rather not too vivid now coz it was like so long ago, but one thing i rmb clearly what i learned was not to judge the status and standard of the team according to mine. otherwise i become, as billy aptly puts it, a slave driver haha. what a noob billy how dare u call me that u slut.
so yup this point also links to me thinking that i am always very impatient during trainings and tend to show lots of black faces all the time haha. o well i learnt to control along the way, but well there are STILL certain things that i lose control sometimes. not just me, but other ppl too. aha those in my team, u guys can probably guess what stuffs :P
so semester 1 ended nice and fun and eventful. then came semester 2 where all hell breaks loose. well firstly, we started ihg training like freaking uber late, well no fault of anyone but myself, coz i like to procrastinate a lot, and it shows, really. so we rushed like hell for IHG training and luckily managed to put up a wonderful performance. have to really applaud the IHG flyers for this, coz i think they really put in lots of effort and they learned very very fast.
well, things started going downhill after that. cheerobics routine training wasn't going very well, and most irritatingly, we had lots and lots of injuries. ivan dislocating everywhere, jun cheng knee go on strike, eden with his C**AI shoulder, wei lai with
so all in all, we did great during the competition. but as captain, that's all i can say. it was great, but it could have been so much better. ok but i really liked the part where u know they showed the 20s interview and broadcasted it out to the whole expo. EXCELLENT. ok. well i said all i could have said during the debrief, and now it's time to look forward to another new year!
with new comm, new coach, new budget, new equipments, new people, i can't see why next year we wouldn't be much stronger than this year. as yod mentioned, i also hope that when ppl say KR Steppers next year they will be like "what the fuck, KR Steppers so zai??!?" ahahaa kkk well then it's just all talk, but it's up to the comm to bring the team and walk the talk.
edward i know u're in a lot of pain getting whacked up down left right, but trust me, me knowing you and you knowing yrself, u'll hate it but u'll really make the team wonderful next year. it already is, seeing that u've already gathered a team ready for training. wa lao how zai.
all the best man guys.
weeps, really enjoying his time in europe, but really misses singapore food, his gf and training with his team. really sucks to eat pasta and pizza everyday.
