Captain-ed

AHHHHHHHHHH SO HERE I AM FINALLY.

ok currently i am freezing my ass off at some random internet hot spot in the town called Riomaggiore in cinque terre, italy. and so i just finished watching the match between spain and chile. last ten minutes was just totally boring and shit, when spain totally just passed the ball around to maintain their 2-1 lead. pathetic shits.

OK so that's not the main point. I'm here to write about my journey as KR Steppers for the past academic year.

Well, it was a breeze.

NOTTTTTTTTT.

haha ok then, let's start from where we just took over as the comm. still remembered we had the siloso beach after elections partay and we were like drinking and doing stunts, and we took our first comm photo and drank our first comm toast together. Me, mel, edward billy.

then came to work. workshops, blueblood, FWOC, auditions and what not. oh, hmm, auditions. still remembered how all the flyers cheated our feelings when they all put the weight down INCORRECTLY haha, giving us all false hopes.hahah.

then, our greatest problem (like every other year), was recruitment. haha remembered we had like lots of ideas, but it all came down to like posters, sign up sheets and hard core persuasion. well, the story that i always have to tell is how jing jie got into the team. well KR always has this thing called inter block games and freshmen always have to be the junior captains. so jing jie was the basketball junior captain in my block, beloved D block. so he was mass smsing one day asking for ppl to go for trainings, and i happened to reply that i couldnt make it (i think like only 2, 3 ppl replied him). so he had my number alr, and when his friend taiyu wanted to join steppers, he smsed me again and ask me whether taiyu can still come down for trainings, even though auditions are over. i said "why not? oh hey...why not u come down too?" and he stupidly said OK ^_^

HAHA that's how he was conned, and that's one of the many ways we managed to get a team up.

Training was pretty good for the first semester, and i thought me and my comm were holding up pretty well. just that, actually, we repeated the problems of the previous years over and over again, like how we are too slow in training progress, and we always start very late like end august, and how by september when thai camp starts, we're never ever ready. well, nothing changed, and so sigh after all we weren't tt successful after all.

However, we managed to fly the whole team over to thailand for some nice "recreational" training with the RSU people. other than being lots of fun, memories are rather not too vivid now coz it was like so long ago, but one thing i rmb clearly what i learned was not to judge the status and standard of the team according to mine. otherwise i become, as billy aptly puts it, a slave driver haha. what a noob billy how dare u call me that u slut.

so yup this point also links to me thinking that i am always very impatient during trainings and tend to show lots of black faces all the time haha. o well i learnt to control along the way, but well there are STILL certain things that i lose control sometimes. not just me, but other ppl too. aha those in my team, u guys can probably guess what stuffs :P

so semester 1 ended nice and fun and eventful. then came semester 2 where all hell breaks loose. well firstly, we started ihg training like freaking uber late, well no fault of anyone but myself, coz i like to procrastinate a lot, and it shows, really. so we rushed like hell for IHG training and luckily managed to put up a wonderful performance. have to really applaud the IHG flyers for this, coz i think they really put in lots of effort and they learned very very fast.

well, things started going downhill after that. cheerobics routine training wasn't going very well, and most irritatingly, we had lots and lots of injuries. ivan dislocating everywhere, jun cheng knee go on strike, eden with his C**AI shoulder, wei lai with wanked too much wrists, kat and her virgin ankle sprain while dry running LOL. yup so basically, we were in really bad shape. lastly, i have to mention UNFIT WEI LI FTL. kkk that's not the point. the point is, really really grateful on behalf of the team to you because without you, we might not even have gone to competition.

so all in all, we did great during the competition. but as captain, that's all i can say. it was great, but it could have been so much better. ok but i really liked the part where u know they showed the 20s interview and broadcasted it out to the whole expo. EXCELLENT. ok. well i said all i could have said during the debrief, and now it's time to look forward to another new year!

with new comm, new coach, new budget, new equipments, new people, i can't see why next year we wouldn't be much stronger than this year. as yod mentioned, i also hope that when ppl say KR Steppers next year they will be like "what the fuck, KR Steppers so zai??!?" ahahaa kkk well then it's just all talk, but it's up to the comm to bring the team and walk the talk.

edward i know u're in a lot of pain getting whacked up down left right, but trust me, me knowing you and you knowing yrself, u'll hate it but u'll really make the team wonderful next year. it already is, seeing that u've already gathered a team ready for training. wa lao how zai.

all the best man guys.

weeps, really enjoying his time in europe, but really misses singapore food, his gf and training with his team. really sucks to eat pasta and pizza everyday.

MELS BACK :)

Today, I’m exceptionally busy at work. I’m sitting in front of my screen with my usual iced mocha from starbucks on my left, and a shitload pile of papers for reading on my right.
But being the usual, procrastinator, kpoh (or rather, concerned) person, I decided to “stalk” steppers' blog again hoping to read new entries! Since there wasn’t anything new, I decided to scroll down to the archives and reminisce about the good old days. I couldn’t resist any longer, and I ended up logging into blogger.com so I could put some thoughts (and feelings) after browsing through the old videos and photos, into words.
Then I very coincidentally, bumped into an entry that weeps posted two days ago (but I don’t know why it got saved into drafts!). OMG I ALMOST WANTED TO WEEP IN FRONT OF MY COMPUTER reading that! No pun intended, but I got quite emotional!
I MISSS STEPPERS AND TRAININGS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!
If any of you (freshies) reading this RIGHT NOW see this, please treasure every single training, and every single opportunity you get to fly! CHERISH IT WITH YOU LIFE I SWEARRR.
I need to get back to work, I WILL BE BACK TO HAUNT EVERYONE WITH STRETCHING AND PT SOON! Please keep training hard, and support the new comm!!
JIAYOU EDWARD, KATH, JJ, EDEN and everyone else!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3

Hellllllo this is JJ from China

Ehhhhh.
I accidentally found out i can access here just now :) so i wan post something
(Edwslut i promise i made the decision of posting it b4 i read your email ok? hahaha kp)

I might not be able to come back before the second week of july because of my teeth and family :(
very sorry for being phantom for the past few days, and really sorry i never reply anyone's msg or email :(

Actually I'm really sad about that cuz i know there are alot of things going on recently. I really wanna help when i see edw kat and eden are busy doing all the work. I know it should be my duty to be there in sg and i really cannot help anything much if i dun come bak physically. However, i really tried my best to negotiate with my mum and did as much as i could to help out the comm. Cuz i still remember what i said and promised during the comm election, and i reli mean it "Steppers for me is really like a family"
.
I know there are many of you, same as me, are foreigners. But different from you all, as one of the scholars from china, it's quite hard for us to survive in hall. Most of us never speak so much english before, we have never been in any culture or sports group before, for me, i dunno a single thing abt cheer when i was in high school. At that time, the only thing we do is mugging. I saw how my china friends slowly slowly disappear from block, from hall, and i wanna say i'm very lucky not to be one of them.
But if i never join steppers, it won't be possible.

I cannot rmb how many times i tell urall that i join steppers is an accident. So sorry im gonna say it again cuz i believe there are still some of you guys dunno.
that day i was helping my friend moving into hall, and stupid weeps forgot to shift to his new room. That's my 1st time knowing weeps ( i tot he's a nais guy cuz he lend us his magic clean but now i think im decieved haha), den i knew he was the stepper's captain. At that time i alr know steppers is a super super super zai team cuz i saw the banner haha ( that makes me scared to think abt going for audition ). Then comes IBG and i was chosen as the basketball captain, i msged everyone in the team and onli weeps replied me so thats how i saved his number. One more thing, i was playing sub for football and every match weeps ask me to sub him in the half time, that time i was thinking this senior so cui, no stamina hahahaha. Eh, sorry for making you guys read this not-so-fun story haha, again, if u allow me write it in chinese, it confrim can publish one :) Actually i nvr think abt joining steppers for quite long, even after the auditions. However, i think its fate, taiyu wanna join steppers and i told him i got captain's number. Then i msg weeps see if you guys still need ppl anot, den weeps say "u wanna come and try?" and i juz say yes lor. haha this is how i joined steppers.

The best thing happened in my 1st yr definitely is becoming a stepper, and you guys reli hav lightened my life. For the past year, i have managed to achieve the things that i never think i could ever do, and i got precious friendship here. Moreover, i had so much fun during every training, every outing, and every single talk with each one of you guys. I can still remember how hard we train when close to the national. At that time i reli think i can sacrifice any thing to get the routine up. and i can still remember what happened on 20th March in Expo. and Billy, you remember you promised me we are going to find our heart back together nxt year?

there are so much things i wanna talk abt but i reli dunno how to say here. I believe everyone of you have the same feeling for steppers as me. Its really more abt a team, or a bunch of ppl in hall.

i know its very hard to explain to my mum wat cheerleading is and wat hall culture is like here, but when i show our page in HAM to my mum, i feel so proud that i am one of KR Steppers, the KR's very own cheerleading team.

Every seniors, hope blueblood is not our last time perform tgt, we know we are going to win something in expo next year.
every freshies, believe me, you wont be regret if you become one of us.

a not-so-high-CAP-but-still-cool-cuz-he-cheers ah tiong

1 suggestion from me - You can make a great video and enter it for VoM then write a great post on your blog embedding that video as a add on to enhance your blog post and enter the post for BPoM; this way you stand a chance to win both contest, and if you do, that is $100 in total. So what are we waiting for, let's all get our pens ready and write, or should I say fingers ready and type.
